Frequently asked questions

Advance payment

How are my instalments calculated? Is it possible to change the amount?

The amount of your instalments is calculated on the basis of consumption in your most recent period. The three quarterly instalments are intended to cover 3/4 of your next adjustment bill. This means that when you receive that bill, only 1/4 of the amount remains to be paid.

However, if there is a change in your consumption habits (change in household composition, construction of a swimming pool or pond, etc.), you can adjust the amount of your instalments to suit you, avoiding unpleasant surprises.

Are instalment bills compulsory?

Yes, water suppliers are legally required to invoice instalments at least quarterly. That's why, each year, you will receive at least three instalment bills and one adjustment bill, from which the instalments you have paid will be deducted. The adjustment bill is calculated based on your water meter reading, which you send us every year.

In the case of an empty building, the owner is liable for this fee.

What is the difference between an advance payment bill and an adjustment bill?

Each year, SWDE sends you three instalment bills (one per quarter) and an adjustment bill (one per year) after receiving your meter reading.

If you want to manage your budget more flexibly, you can receive monthly instalment bills. If you choose monthly instalments, you will automatically receive your SWDE bills and communications digitally (e-mail, Zoomit, etc.).

Our advice: make your life easier with a direct debit. With a direct debit, your bills are automatically paid on time and you keep control over every amount paid from your account. Go to your Customer Area

What frequency should I choose for my advance payments?

Instalment bills are sent quarterly by default. But if you feel you can manage your budget more easily with smaller amounts, in your Customer Area you can choose to receive them monthly.

If you opt for monthly instalments, you will automatically receive your SWDE bills and communications digitally (by e-mail, e-mail + text, Zoomit or peppol).

What is the minimum amount for an advance payment?

If the building is uninhabited, you can opt for 'empty house' advance payments.

For quarterly instalments, the amount is fixed at €30.

For monthly instalments, the amount is fixed at €10.

Can I request monthly instalment bills?

Yes, you can choose to receive your instalment bills monthly instead of quarterly. This allows you to pay smaller amounts and manage your budget more effectively.

If you choose monthly instalments, all your SWDE bills and communications will be sent digitally (by e-mail, e-mail + text, Zoomit or peppol).

I receive my instalment bills quarterly and I’d like to receive them monthly. What are the conditions?

By default, instalments are paid quarterly. If you choose to receive your instalments on a monthly basis, you will receive your invoices and SWDE communications by e-mail. You can make this change from your Customer Area. To make sure you never miss a bill, activate the SMS option, which notifies you as soon as a bill is sent.
